Bilberries in a Bowl

Bilberry Benefits For Your Skin

July 20, 2020

Today's topic is the mighty Bilberry... it looks an awful lot like a blueberry you say?  That’s because it's a close relative, sort of like the blueberry’s European cousin,

Ahh, so your wheels are already turning...because you know how great blueberries are for your health, and you guessed it, so are Bilberries!

Antioxidant

Just like it’s common local relative, the blueberry, Bilberries are the richest natural sources of anthocyanin, which is an antioxidant that gives it the dark blue color. It is also loaded with vitamins A, B, C, E, and K as well as being a mineral treasure trove with its delivery of chromium, manganese, zinc, and iron.

Astringent

The tannin content of Bilberries make them a great astringent, helping the skin feel tightening and toned. Locking in moisture while simultaneously helping to balance oiliness is what makes Bilberry products a must for normal, combo or even oily skin types.

Anti-Aging

While the antioxidants in these powerful berries help stave off free radicals damage and future skin aging, the resveratrol in Bilberries helps reduce the look of fine lines . . . who doesn’t love that?!

Of course eating Bilberries is great for your health, but that wasn’t the topic of today’s discussion so I won't go into how wonderful they are for your vision and why.

If you'd like to try an expertly formulated Bilberry Moisturizer designed to establish balance, while reaping all the benefits you just read about, try our Bilberry Matte Moisturizer
